Trend Alert: Slicked-Back Beachy Tresses

Tousled, sun-kissed beach hair has been a thing pretty much as long as summer has existed.

This year, though, take your cues straight from the Fall 2018 runways to create your new summer style: slicked-back beachy waves. One runway look we loved was Adam Selman super-slick bangs framed by cascading curls.

Another was a cleaner look with a cool side part, pulled behind the ear on the Cushnie Et Ochs runway.

Either way it’s clear that the wet look is back in. Think of it as polish in the front, party in the back.

The best part about the style is that it requires nearly no work: If your hair needs to be coaxed into waves, while hair is still damp, slick back the front, then use Volume Texture Mist to scrunch the ends.

For a more “done” look, wrap the ends around a 1.5-inch wand or curling iron in small sections to set them into waves. You can even adorn the front with one of the season’s other trends: blinged-out barrettes. If your hair is naturally wavy, simply use our Perfect Smooth Hair Oil to slick back the front section, then leave your hair to do its thing in the back.

Whether you’re going to a beachside soiree or a summer wedding, the slicked-back beachy vibe is one look that can be elegant without being overthought.
