There’s much to be excited about when spring rolls around—birds are chirping, the temperature is rising, and flowers are blooming away. We can’t wait to head out into the beautiful weather and enjoy some great hair days. But the truth is that seasonal changes can be really harsh on your hair. Not to worry, here are some easy steps you can take to make sure your hair stays healthy and luminous through the transition.

Start with your scalp

Winter weather is notorious for making scalps dry and itchy. So before you do anything, remember to address this important area with a good scrub like our Perfect Shine Clarifying Scalp Scrub. It’ll help both the health of your scalp and your hair.

Time for a trim

Now’s a great time to refresh your hair with a cut. Remove all of those dry, split ends to help with new grow, increase volume, and make it look so much happier.

Resist the hot shower

A nice hot shower is a beautiful thing, but unfortunately, it’s also very drying to the hair and makes it brittle. Stick with lukewarm water, and if you’re up for it, a cold rinse at the end is great for closing the cuticle and increasing shine.

Reach for a hydrating shampoo

Extra moisture is helpful in the seasonal transition as it keeps the hair saturated and healthy. Wash with a hydrating shampoo that uses natural ingredients to nourish hair, and stay away from those that contain sulfates or parabens.

Deep condition on repeat

If you haven’t been deep conditioning your hair regularly (at least once a week), now would be a good time to start. It will help replace the moisture that the harsh winter weather stripped from your hair, while increasing the strength of the strands.
