Our Favorite Low-Waste Products

A roundup of earth-friendly low-waste items we know you’ll love

With so many brands now working to reduce plastic waste and include sustainability and ethical manufacturing in their company policies and missions, going low-waste has never been easier. Whether you're looking for an eco-friendly gift or want to lessen your own environmental impact,  below, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite low-waste products including our own refillable shampoo pouches.

Stasher Storage Bags

We love Stasher bags because they’re plastic-free, durable, reusable, and can be used for so many things. They’re made for food and are microwave and dishwasher safe (you can even place them in boiling water to cook whatever is in them!) but they’re fun and easy to use as makeup and beauty organizer, lunch bags, and for storing things in your purse.

Biodegradable Elastic Hair Ties

Like lost socks in the dryer, we can all relate to losing track of our hair ties—even when we think they’re secured on the wrist. Instead of trying to avoid the inevitable, swap your regular elastics for these biodegradable elastic hair ties. Made from ethically sourced natural and organic material, these elastics perform just as well as regular elastics but are compostable, recyclable and break down easily.

Cocofloss

If you’re not already a fan of Cocofloss, reading this will make you want to make the switch ASAP. With a bunch of fun flavors (and super cute instagramable packaging), Cocofloss floss is infused with coconut oil, made with vegan wax, and offers refills in compostable packaging. They are cruelty-free, vegan, free of toxins and Leaping Bunny certified, the gold-standard in cruelty-free certification for non-animal tested products.

Bamboo Toothbrush

Commiting to a compostable plant-based toothbrush is a great way to eliminate single use plastic waste from your daily routine. Bite’s Bamboo toothbrush is made from Moso bamboo, a renewable resource that’s grown naturally and comes in a paper box. It has soft bristles for clean teeth and a detachable head for easy travel.

Kinship Self Reflect Sunscreen

It’s great to see fellow beauty brands embracing sustainability and natural ingredients. Kinship Skincare, for example, makes clean, cruelty-free products with earth-friendly, ethical packaging. Their award-winning Self Reflect sunscreen is a reef-safe, mineral sunscreen for blemish-prone skin and is made with turmeric and plant-based probiotics. It has a glowy finish and never feels tacky!

Travel Coffee Mug

A reusable travel coffee mug is a no brainer for those of us who love a steaming cup of tea or coffee, and you can even ask your barista to use it instead of a throw-away cup. This cup from Food52 is a bit of a splurge but we love it for it’s simple design and neutral colors. It’s made of double-walled, vacuum-insulated stainless steel and is just the right size to fit under most single serve coffee makers.

NatureLab Repair Shampoo Refill Pouch

Never run out of our five-star rated Repair Shampoo with an eco-friendly refill pouch. The pouch contains the same amount of shampoo as two full size bottles but has 85% less plastic. The shampoo itself nourishes your hair and scalp with botanical technology and plant-based ingredients like argan and prickly pear oil.

FinalStraw Collapsible Reusable Metal Straw

Suck responsibly with a reusable metal straw that collapses and folds so you can bring it with you on your smoothies or iced coffee run. This particular straw also comes with a convenient keychain case and is TSA friendly.
